PriceWalk privacy policy

This page describes the data handled by the PriceWalk Android app, published by Reunidev.

Effective

In short

  • No account, no advertising, no analytics by the publisher.
  • The publisher has no server for PriceWalk: the app sends it no data.
  • Your data stays on your device, except in the files you choose to share.
  • The Google ML Kit library, which reads the price on a photo of a shelf label, may send technical diagnostic data to Google.

Data stored on the device

PriceWalk stores in its private storage, on the device: the product list, the price list, the price checks and their mismatches, the competitor surveys, the expiry dates, the labels, the photos and your settings. Android automatic backup and device-to-device transfer are turned off for PriceWalk: only the backup file you create carries your data.

Camera and photos

PriceWalk uses the camera to read barcodes, to take evidence and product photos, and to photograph the shelf label to read its price. Barcodes are read on the device; nothing is sent. Photos are stored on the device.

A photo taken with PriceWalk is saved again on the device without its metadata (EXIF), so without any location the camera may have written into it; if this fails, the original photo is kept as it is. Product photos that you import from a ZIP file are kept as you supply them.

Price reading and Google ML Kit

The text on the label photo is read on the device by the Google ML Kit library: PriceWalk suggests a price, you confirm it. PriceWalk does not send this photo.

According to Google, ML Kit may send Google technical data for diagnostics and usage analytics: hardware and system details, app name and version, an installation-specific identifier, performance metrics, feature settings (image format and resolution), input and output sizes, feature version, event types and error codes. Google states that it encrypts this data in transit (HTTPS) and does not transfer it to third parties. Google's page does not list the image or the text read among this data.

These transfers are Google's: see Google's ML Kit data disclosure page and Google's privacy policy.

Bluetooth printer

To print labels, PriceWalk connects over Bluetooth to the printer you choose, with your permission. The list of paired Bluetooth devices is shown for this choice; only the address of the chosen printer is stored, on the device, in the app settings. Labels are sent to this printer only.

Files imported, exported and shared

You import CSV or XLSX files (price list, product list) and ZIP files (product photos, backup) with the Android file picker: PriceWalk reads only the file you choose.

Exports (CSV, PDF, evidence ZIP, labels) are created on the device. They leave the device only if you share them or save them where you choose. A shared file then follows the rules of the app or person that receives it.

Backup

The PriceWalk backup is a ZIP file that you create and whose location you choose. It holds the whole app database, with the photos and the printer address. This file is not encrypted: keep it in a safe place.

Bug report

The "Bug report" screen creates a diagnostic ZIP file. It holds:

  • the app version;
  • the device manufacturer and model;
  • the Android version;
  • the screen language and orientation;
  • your settings (language, currency, separators, price tolerance);
  • the number of products in the product list and the number of tasks in progress (checks, surveys, expiry dates, labels), not their content;
  • the names of the last screens opened;
  • the last error messages shown;
  • a filtered extract of the app's own logs, if the option stays ticked;
  • the text you typed.

Barcodes are masked in it unless you untick the option (ticked by default). The report leaves the device only if you share it or save it elsewhere. A copy of the latest reports stays in the app's private storage; older ones are deleted when new ones are created.

If you send a report or a message to the publisher, it is used only to answer you and to fix the problem; it is deleted once the problem is solved. You can ask for its deletion at any time at [email protected].

Purchase

The app is bought on Google Play, under Google's rules. The publisher receives no payment data. PriceWalk contains no in-app purchase and no subscription.

Retention and deletion

The data stays on the device until you delete it. Uninstalling PriceWalk, or clearing its data in the Android settings, deletes everything the app stored in its storage. The files you exported, shared or saved outside the app stay under your control.

Your rights

Apart from the messages and reports you choose to send it (see "Bug report"), the publisher receives no data through PriceWalk. The app data is under your control, on the device. For the technical data sent by ML Kit, contact Google. For any question: [email protected].

Children

PriceWalk is a professional tool for retail; it is not meant for children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its effective date.
